1. Name 3 business principles that are of core value to you?

Give Value – to your clients, to your partners, to yourself. Always give your best quality and your full attention. Make them feel special - after all, they are! I love my clients, so it's easy to give them my best.

Be Strong – You will face challenges, rejection, bullies and more. This is to be expected, otherwise everyone would have been successful. You really need to look after yourself and keep moving forward. You need a good team of people cheering you on.

Be Yourself -  I know it sounds cliché, but it's true. People are tired of fake people and they want to be around people that are not pretentious. They want to be around real - yet successful - people. People who are willing to give all of themselves.

2. What has been the hardest part of being an entrepreneur?

The hardest part of being an entrepreneur has been dealing with the unknown. Will this marketing campaign get the results we need? Will our audience respond to this message? Will we find the staff member we want? What don’t I know or what am I missing? What about our competition? What’s going to happen in the market next quarter, next year, or in the next 18 months? Will all of it work?

Learning to love the uncertainty and riding the rollercoaster of business has been my greatest achievement.

3. How important is it to have a business coach & what significant role in change has your coach played in your business journey?

Having a business coach – the right business coach – is absolutely essential. I’ve had many coaches over the years, so I know what is needed at different times. When I am coaching business people I make sure to focus on what is most important at the stage they are at.

My coaches have provided me with specific strategies to achieve success in certain projects. Space for reflection so I can learn from my own and others’ experience and implement that in my business. Emotional support to get through challenges and be able to break through to greater levels of achievement. And a kick in the butt (accountability) when I need it, too!

4. What 3 core advice principals will you give women that are wanting to start their own business?

a. Start with the end in mind. Before diving into a new business, take the time to really explore your values and priorities and what sort of business and lifestyle you want to end up with.

b. Believe in yourself AND be realistic. You can do anything you set your mind to, but sometimes, no matter how much you want it, or how great you think your idea is, if nobody wants to buy it, it’s time to re-think your strategy.

c. Get a good coach. Nobody I know who has created a successful business, has done it on their own. It’s a jungle out there and you need a guide who has been there before and knows the way.

5. What does success mean to you?

Success is the achievement of something that is important to you. It can mean achieving a certain level of wealth (you decide what the level is). It can mean donating a million dollars to charity. It can mean raising a beautiful family. It can mean travelling to that place you’ve always wanted to go to. It can mean feeling positive and at peace. It can mean making a delicious soufflé.

I think we over think ‘success’ and its counterpart ‘failure’. Sometimes things turn out like we hoped or expected, and sometimes they don’t. But either way, we’re not done yet. There is always another project, another opportunity, another chapter.

6. What is your key to success?

The fact that I'm willing to learn and be taught. That's why I'm a firm believer in coaching and that's why I see coaching as an absolutely essential investment in me.

I don't have anything to lose and I have everything to gain. Every time I have invested in coaching, I have made the money back 10 times over - not to mention that I then have that knowledge and ability for the rest of my life! Education is one thing that you can never lose.

7. What is the key thing you want people to know about you?

When we work together, I thrive on your success. I love it when my clients message me from Hawaii, Bali, Paris...wherever they are travelling, and say 'Hey, thank you thank you thank you for helping us make this business, opportunity, holiday, possible'. It's a great feeling. Now, I know it's not me who achieved all of this, it's them, but it's a great feeling to see them achieve beyond what they ever thought possible.

8. How do you juggle motherhood with your busy schedule?

For me, it’s about knowing what is really important to you in life (your values), and even more importantly, what the balance and priorities are of those values at different times. For example, my son, husband and business are all important to me. But sometimes I have to make a decision about where to spend my time; it can only be one of them. If I’ve been spending a lot of time and attention in one area lately, I then will make sure to focus on the others for a while. It doesn’t always have to be in complete balance, but I find if any one of those three starts to be neglected, then it can start to cause problems.

I also know what are the must-dos for me when it comes to being a mum (e.g. giving love, attention, cuddles, playtime, reading, and so on) and what things are not so important (for me, that’s things like having the best designer birthday cake, most creative Halloween costume, or spotless white T- shirts). I think there is way too much pressure on mums to be perfect in all areas, and it’s just not realistic.

On a day to day basis, my husband and I have worked out a system that works for both of us, so we can both work and live at our best. I am at my best mentally in the mornings, so he handles most of the morning routine with our son, while I get stuck into work early. Once the day is done, I need to switch off mentally in the evenings, whereas he likes to work into the night. I have an excellent time management system, so when I am working on my business, I know how to maximise my time and make it super productive.
