Please give us a bit of background on who you are and what you do?

My name is Sandra Campillo, lifestyle entrepreneur and founder of Warriors On The Rise. A mission geared toward empowering women for success - helping them break through their fears, build their confidence and unleash their inner warrior so that they can rise above and create a life they truly love and deserve. I am committed to sharing ideas, resources and tools that inspire action, challenge growth and lead women to step into their power. As a student, top of the class from the school of hard-knocks, I use my first-hand, real-life professional and personal experiences of 18 years to help bridge the gap to success and lead others to living their best life.

My story began at the age of 18. I was a single teenage mom who struggled to stay afloat while trying to make a better life for my daughter and I. For years, I worked hard to gain work experience for monetary growth only to find out that my experience would count for nothing. Time after time, I was capped off and limited in growth as a result of not having my degree. I attempted to acquire college credits over the years while working full time and supporting my daughter. When I made the decision to move us from SOFLA to NC so that I could give my daughter a better life, I learned my credits wouldn’t transfer. I had given up on life and subjected myself to an employer who used me, took advantage of my hard work and underpaid me. It wasn’t up until 5 years later that a friend suggested I contact the university. I hesitated at first, thinking, if the community college wouldn’t take my credits, I don’t think the university will. Then I started to think, I have two options; I either stay stuck or take a chance. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I took the chance and as it turned out, my credits transferred. That was the best day of my life! My daughter and I ended up graduated on the same day. My daughter went on to become a successful PA and I began my entrepreneurial journey. I promised myself that I would do whatever it takes to never have to work for anyone again or ever live like that again. Now, I’m on a mission to empower others to do the same… to get unstuck and rise above. Our circumstances don’t define us, what defines us is how well we rise after the fall. We are all warriors on the rise and we were all meant for more.

What advice can you give other entrepreneurs that are struggling to break through the glass ceiling in reaching their goals?

To stay focused on your goals - one goal at a time, one day at a time as well as the end result despite the obstacles - never losing sight as to why you began in the first place. When you focus on all your goals at once, you become overwhelmed more than your mind can handle and in turn, open yourself up to the noise and chatter of the outside world telling you that you can’t. The key is knowing and believing that there is nothing you cannot do as long as you set your mind to it. It is all in the mind and what you allow in and out of it. Focus and cultivating a solid mindset is key. Never stop believing in yourself. Keep moving despite the setbacks and failures. Sooner or later, something is bound to hit. You haven’t tried everything, until you’ve found a solution; so, never, ever give up. It’s not an option.

When & how did your big shift take place?

When I realized that my job was affecting my daughters life. I found myself removing my daughter from extracurricular activities she enjoyed to make time for a job that overworked and underpaid me. All in an attempt to fulfill a promotional role with a promotional salary plus bonuses that were promised, but never got. That is when I knew something had to change. It became my reason for pushing forward. I was done being taken advantage of not having a degree and decided I never wanted to work under anyone’s control again. I pursued my degree in Psychology so that I could become a behavior analyst who could go on to work independently. After graduation, I hit roadblock after roadblock thinking there has to be more. I felt it. I knew I was meant for more. I was being pulled to do more, be more and make a difference, but I wasn’t sure what that was. So, I made it my mission to figure it out. That is when my entrepreneurial journey truly began.

What inspires and motivates you? What wakes you up every morning, make you get the work done and do it all over again the next day?

When I think about the 18 years of ongoing struggles I endured to try to give my daughter a better life and hitting rockbottom several times while trying to stay afloat. I promised myself that I would never live like that again. It’s what has led me to become unstoppable.
What wakes me up in the morning and keeps me going day in and day out without fail is the fear of being back in the dark place of lack and struggle while keeping the vision I have for my life and my family at the forefront.

How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors? What makes you unique?

We each have a story. No one story is the same. Therefore, I believe that it’s our individual story, unique to ourselves, regardless of the similarity in industry that allows us to connect with others on a level no one else can. It’s what makes us stand out. I share my message with authenticity and realness that is unique to me. I connect and empower in a way that allows others to feel my energy, passion and resonate with my message. One that only I can share because it’s my personal story. A story only I have lived.
