1. Please give us a bit of background on who you are and what you do? (what is your backstory/your business)

I have always been fascinated with the Science of life and Psychology and initially chose to enter the medical arena. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, so naturally at that time my prime prerogative was gaining experience within the medical field. Once I had passed the Licensure Examination I believed that Nursing would be my career. That was until life lead me down an entirely different path.

In 2009 my life took a u-turn and my journey within the corporate world began. Straight after I graduated from college I was hired by a Fortune 500 Company, ‘IBM Business Services Inc.’ I worked as an HR Delivery Specialist on a account that caters for one of the largest pharmaceutical company in the US.

‘IBM Business Services Inc’ is culturally diverse, they have a strong work ethic and believe in the highest level of professionalism. They also believe in their team, pushing their people to develop and to grow.  Working within such a dynamic atmosphere made a major impact in my life.

It was here that I met my husband who I consider to be my first mentor in entrepreneurship. While being content in the corporate sector, I knew I wanted more and he encouraged me to break free of the constrains of the 9 - 5 mentality. Once again I left what I knew behind to start a new journey.

My husband already started building ‘Blueport Business Outsourcing’ , a company that is similar to BPO but on a smaller scale, providing opportunities for individuals to work from home. We decided to go into partnership and it was extremely successful for the first three years. Unfortunately we then faced serious challenges within our personal life and naturally this took it’s toll on the business. In the interim technology and new marketing strategies had advanced exponentially and we found that we had been left behind.

At that time I continued to work remotely as a virtual assistant and consultant to a diversity of clients based in the UK, Australia and the US. Their industries included E-commerce, Real Estate, Property Management, Protection, Security and Telco. My clients trusted me and as a result I was continuously being put in a position where I was given the opportunity to add and train staff. Helping others to become part of the growing team. It is so rewarding knowing that you are able to assist clients in scaling their business while providing jobs to talented individuals. The benefit of having ‘remote’ workers is that you have the same success but are able to benefit from the knowledge of individuals from another part of the world. It also works out to be far more economical in the long run.

My success led me to taking a leap of faith and starting my own company. ‘OVA VIRTUAL’ is a virtual assistant solutions provider comprised of a team of Filipina Virtual Assistant Professionals who originally come from the corporate world that have opted to work independently. Working from home, ‘remote work’, requires an incredible amount of discipline and we choose only the best. It is my passion to help businesses grow while empowering women who are facing challenges with the work-life balance by providing fulfilling opportunities that suit their lifestyle.

The Women of OVA VIRTUAL are on the mission to become a viable and efficient Virtual Assistant Solutions Provider for entrepreneurs, professionals, and small team with respect to delegation and automation in business and day to day tasks, for our clients to live the freedom and experience the quality of life they want.

2. What inspires and motivates you? What wakes you up every morning, make you get the work done and do it all over again the next day?

I think the most important factor for me with regards to staying motivated and inspired is simple and that is having a grateful heart. Everything positive, no matter how big or small, in every aspect of your life (whether in your personal or with your business) can serve as an inspiration and motivation making you feel excited to wake up every morning.

Secondly, you should develop a habit that will contribute to your success and your well-being. Your mind should be programmed in a way that enhances your motivation on a day-to-day basis.

Lastly, you should always go back to your "WHY". There are times that you will be faced with challenges and failures, and you should always be reminded of why you are doing the things that you are doing to keep you moving forward and not to be stuck on your current situation.

3. To what do you attribute your success?

OVA VIRTUAL celebrates achievements! No matter how big or small, we consider every victory to be a win for the company. Personally, my success is subjective, I am a devout Christian, and I believe that God gave me this knowledge, gift or calling (whatever we may call it) to a higher purpose, to help others. My dedication is to our clients and virtual assistants'. I feel blessed by their success.

4. How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors? What makes you unique?

I feel that our passion for excellence and providing the best options for our international clients sets us apart from other businesses. We hire only well-trained Filipina virtual assistant professionals who are passionate about providing the best virtual assistant support. Each one undergoes a strict, multi-step vetting process that tests everything from their communication and technical skills to their creativity and resourcefulness.

Apart from that, we, the women of OVA VIRTUAL, care for each other and our work as much as our own families and we do in a way that only women can.

5. What do you think is the biggest trend we will see in 2019 within the entrepreneur space

I think women entrepreneurs will continue to make a substantial contribution to the economy through their participation in start-ups and their growth in small and medium businesses.

Every woman in business can be part of the movement towards better business strategies using qualities that come naturally to us. We bring with us our authenticity, our regard for all people, and our belief that small actions can make a big impact!
