  • Please give us a bit of background on yourself?

This is Shruti, founder of Morning Lazziness. It has always been my dream to contribute something fruitful to society. And, in this digital era, I am blessed enough to start something of my own.

Hailing from a computer science background, I never thought of starting my blogging journey. But after college, I joined a digital marketing company as a content writer, and the rest is history.

In my first job, I got introduced to the digital world, which gives me access to pursue my dream. If you can think well, be creative with your words, then the online world gives you a lot of opportunities. And, that is where I learned every inch of Digital Marketing.

I learned WordPress, Digital Marketing, various tools such as Moz, SEMRush, etc. to start my journey as a professional blogger. The fascinating part of blogging is, the deeper you go, the more interesting it becomes.

  • Turned Blogging Passion into Digital Magazine, Pursue your Dreams?

It was the year 2018 when I started Morning Lazziness just as an Instagram channel, only to put inspirational and motivational quotes every day to help people get out of their beds and get moving.

It was working out well for me until I went through a rough breakup. This changed my perspective completely and I began to write about relationships. I realized that people out there needed some kind of solace and the right advice and direction to get through a relationship at various stages. This is what I focused on and thus writing about relationships became my purpose.

I received a lot of appreciation for my work and that gave me a boost of confidence. Simultaneously, I was working at a firm as a content creator. After changing 2-3 jobs in a year, my dedication towards my blog- Morning Lazziness took a backseat for a few months.

Later,  at the time of Covid, I lost my job and decided to give my full-time to Morning Lazziness. Initially, the response was low, but as time passes, people start loving the inspiration I give them through articles. And in no time, my blog turned into a Magazine. Covering different categories, be it women entrepreneurship, health, fitness, business tips, and yoga & meditation.

Today I have more than 500 writers writing stories and informative articles for the magazine. They share their own experiences and it has been an amazing journey so far.

  • What are some of your biggest achievements throughout your journey?

When my work was published on International sites, like Thrive Global, Buzzfeed, and Your Story. Later my interviews with good publications were published.

Here are the few achievements

  • What are 3 business principles that are of core value to you?

The three business principles that are must be followed to be successful as an entrepreneur are patience, persistence & perseverance. Critical - as in absolutely necessary.

  1. Patience - the skill of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, etc. is the most essential skill you need to succeed as an entrepreneur.

  2. Persistence - This skill provides you the ability to stick with something. If you practice the violin for over a year to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" perfectly, that's persistence! Persistence can also mean something that lasts for a very long time. You need to be persistent to get perfection in various entrepreneurial activities such as team building, decision making, revenue generation, growth hacks, etc.

  3. Perseverance - This skill offers you the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. To achieve success, you have to climb the ladder of failures. Perseverance will help you to climb that ladder.

Apart from these core skills, a lot of technical skills may be required which can vary depending on the nature of the venture.

  • What is the hardest part of being an entrepreneur?

The time a person decides to be an Entrepreneur, an array of challenges arise in their way.  From maintaining the work-life balance to overcoming the daily obstacles, you have to face them all. From team management to managing funds, from trying new marketing strategies to stand offbeat in the competitive landscape to working in odd hours are the hardest part.

  • How do you stand out in this digital world?

By just trying to be ME. It is ok to do things differently, to not follow usual trends. It is also important to step outside of the comfort zone every now and then.

  • What was one of the biggest mistakes that you have made throughout your journey and what lesson did you learn from it?

I’ve made a lot of mistakes, and I think all entrepreneurs do. But I’ve learned so much from them.

“I guess, there should be a machine, which indicates to every entrepreneur prior, that you are going to make a mistake, so don’t go that way..”

At the early stage of the magazine, I thought of developing websites for every different category. For example, for entrepreneurs there should be a different site, for relationships, there must be a new site, and so on, but then I decided instead of giving my time to multiple projects, why not to give one.

What I recommend to every entrepreneur is not to juggle their mind at multiple places, instead focus on one thing and keep that going. These days, what entrepreneurs want is to keep their hands in every field, but what I prefer is to put all their focus and efforts in one place and grow in it.

Another mistake I made was, I started being active on social media very late. Maybe it was a few months back only when I thought to give my time to social media. And, I guess it’s the biggest mistake. Because whenever you start any business you may need to make your presence on social media. It’s a digital era, where socializing and engaging with people is very important for every kind of business.

My third, and last mistake, which I even regret today, why I delayed hiring a strong team for my business. The time you start your business, hire a great team, from that day, only.

“Every entrepreneur can recover from their mistakes. It’s just they are willing to accept and learn from their mistakes. “

  • What is your key to success?

Be dedicated to your goals. For me, no matter how many obstacles come my way or deflect me from my dreams, I always believe to stay positive and humble.

  • What does success mean to you?

For me, success is a journey - a never-ending journey, which comes through a lot of failures. Actually, you climb the stairs of failures to achieve success.

You create your long-term goals and break those long-term goals into short-term goals. Achieving those goals will give you a feeling of success but again a next goal, next level of effort, and next level of success. So, I called it a never-ending journey.
