Please give us a bit of background on yourself

My name is Lauren Barrett, I also go by That Blonde Entrepreneur. I’m a 24-year-old business owner and entrepreneur here in Chicago, IL. I live with my two puppies Buzz and Coco. My company Ardor services globally. We are a MarTech company providing marketing and technology solutions to business owners. I also own a non-profit called Funded, which helps fund nonprofits here in Chicago and support women-owned startups by connecting them with potential investors.

Along with those two businesses, I’m a strategic partner in different startups. I have a passion for flipping startups that are primarily marketing and technology startups. Instead of flipping houses, I flip startups.

My dream is to take my company internationally and then start buying out startups.

What are some of your biggest achievements throughout your journey?

My biggest achievement was being able to create a six-figure business within 6 months. Along with being featured in reputable women entrepreneur magazines, and being able to have a physical office outside of my apartment.

What are 3 business principles that are of core value to you?

The 3 core business principles that are of core value to me are communication, respect, and TIME. I’m huge on time because it is something that you can never get back. Within my businesses, I want to make sure that time is being executed in an efficient manner both from our team side and client-based side of things.

What is the hardest part of being an entrepreneur?

The hardest part about being an entrepreneur is being able to balance your life and work. “Work, Life balance”. Running a team can be challenging from the onboarding, training, and growth challenges.

How do you stand out in this digital world?

You stand out with a USP (Unique Selling Point) which can be anything from a certain way you produce your video content, brand tone and voice on your copy, the newest technology you offer within your services, branding in general from posts, website, and marketing materials you have.

Focusing on building a brand, not just a business is very important during this digital era. Brands are personal, they connect people to someone bigger than just a product, and brands have stories to tell. Our story is that we believe in small businesses and have a passion for serving entrepreneurs and business owners in achieving their vision. Because we are aligned with our clients and our community, we know that it's our duty to produce content in a way that guides each of you down the pathway to unlimited profits.

What was one of the biggest mistakes that you have made throughout your journey and what lesson did you learn from it?

One of the biggest mistakes that I made throughout my journey and lesson from it is, not learning how to manage my cash flow. I learned that when cash flow is coming in at a fast pace, it can be hard to handle because you want to spend it on this or pay all these bills. But it can end up leading you into serious trouble when you spend it all and you have nothing left to pay the rest of your team..etc.

What is your key to success?

My key to success is networking and confidence. Master those and you can go to the moon.

What does success mean to you?

Success means to me having control of your own time. Being able to do whatever, whenever you want.
